As part of the annual Canora Ambulance Yuletide Toy Drive, Fill the Sleigh Day was hosted by The Bargain Shop in Canora on December 9.             Once again, Canora and area residents showed their support for Fill the Sleigh Day at The Bargain Shop, as part of the annual Canora Ambulance Yuletide Toy Drive.

In addition to the many toys donated during the day and collected in the EMS vehicle provided by Canora Ambulance, approximately $1,000 was raised for the purchase of additional toys, games, books and crafts for local families who may otherwise go without gifts this Christmas. said Carla Steciuk of Canora Ambulance.

The store was open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the special event. Santa joined the proceedings for several hours, which delighted the children present.

Volunteers helping out during the day played a large role in assuring that things ran smoothly and were very much appreciated, said Steciuk. Included among the volunteers were Jaylene Kaytor, Braidyn Nesbitt and Aidyn Kaytor of the Canora Homecraft 4-H Club.

She said Canora Ambulance staff and their partners in this project at The Bargain Shop were grateful to all those who made donations.

After Fill the Sleigh Day, the Canora Ambulance Yuletide Toy Drive was to continue until December 18. At that point Canora Ambulance staff were to make their own donations and then wrap the presents prior to their distribution to needy families.

All those receiving gifts remain anonymous.
