Volunteers from the Yorkton SaskTel Pioneers and members of the Yorkton Terriers Junior Hockey Team wished everyone a merry Christmas and happy New Year during a Christmas party that they held for children with special needs from Canora, Kamsack, Davison, Melville and Yorkton.

Children with special needs and between the ages of five and 11 years from Canora, Kamsack, Davison, Melville and Yorkton attended a Christmas party hosted by the Yorkton SaskTel Pioneers on December 13.

The children had the pleasure of spending their morning colouring and writing letters to Santa Claus with members of the Yorkton Terriers Junior Hockey Team, said a release from the organizers.

Once Santa arrived, all 20 children received special gifts that they had personally requested, the release said. Afterwards all were treated to lunch, courtesy of the Yorkton SaskTel Pioneers.

This annual Christmas party is a highlight for the Pioneers to host, it said. Across Saskatchewan similar parties occur with other SaskTel Pioneer clubs.

“The volunteers love donating their time to see the smiles on the children’s faces and to be a part of their joyous Christmas season.”
