The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 83 calls during the week of July 1 to July 8, some of which included: one traffic accident, 42 provincial traffic offences, two impaired, four other provincial statutes, one harassment/threat, two assaults, one theft, one mischief, one break and enter, and nine other incidents.
Rowdy group
On July 2, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance in Canora where a group of people were fighting and throwing beer bottles at each other. Police attended and dispersed the small crowd. No further incidents were reported.
Fire ban fire
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on July 2 to a complaint of an open fire at an unoccupied campsite at Good Spirit Lake. The fire was in contravention of the Provincial Fire Ban. Police attended with the Canora Fire Department who extinguished the fire.
Food and water
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter to a residence in the RM of Keys on July 3. Food and water was reported to have been stolen.
ATV rollover
On July 4, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report of a rollover involving an ATV where minor injures were sustained. Police continue to investigate.
Fed the cat
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP attended to a second complaint of a break and enter which occurred in the RM of Clayton on July 4. During the investigation, police learned that the suspect made himself at home inside of the residence by feeding the cat and helping himself to food and water. Police were able to identify a person of interest who was later arrested and charged with break and enter and theft.
Stolen stove
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report on July 5 of an antique wood stove being stolen from a farm yard in the RM of Sliding Hills. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Canora RCMP or you can also report anonymously via Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
Offensive graffiti
On July 5, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of offensive graffiti being written on the road at Crystal Lake. Police continue to investigate.
