Carey and LeeAnn Weinbender and family, who own and operate Sliding Hills Charolais near Canora, won the 2018 Farmer Recognition Award at Harvest Showdown on November 8 in Yorkton.

The award is presented annually for overall contributions to agriculture in the community of the winner.

“Keeping youth involved in the agriculture industry through 4-H and our breed has been very important to us,” said LeeAnn. “We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with many great people over the years, helping youth benefit from these programs.  Our own children, Sarah, Dale and Laura have gained a great deal and for that we are grateful.  It was a great feeling to be recognized for our years of volunteering and involvement.”

Sliding Hills Charolais breeds 125 females each spring and hold an annual farm bull sale in April.
