On April 24 at 11:00 a.m., as Bruce Monette of Good Spirit Lake played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes, there was a two-minute silence and saluting of the flag at the Canora RCMP detachment to honour the fallen RCMP member from Halifax, Cst. Heidi Stevenson, and the other victims of the Nova Scotia shootings. Canora Fire and Canora Ambulance also attended to honour the 22 victims, as part of a simultaneous tribute held at locations across Canada, according to information provided by the RCMP. The tribute included parking ambulances in front of their local detachments, activing emergency lights but with no sirens, and standing at attention wearing red or dress uniforms as available. Due to social distancing rules, this was the first time in its history that the RCMP was unable to hold a Regimental Funeral for a fallen officer.
