Canora Royal Canadian Legion hands out awards

The Canora branch of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 52 presented its past year’s awards on June 11. Gina Rakochy received the first vice-president award from Jim Woodward of Kamsack, zone one commander, Royal Canadian Legion.

            Gina Rakochy received the first vice-president award from Jim Woodward of Kamsack, zone one commander, Royal Canadian Legion.

            As the new Canora branch president for 2017, Rakochy presented the past year’s secretary award to Carol Sleeva, the award for membership chair to Lorie Negraeff, and the chaplin pin to Padre Wilfred Michaels.

            Pat Thompson of the Canora branch received the service medal award for going beyond normal membership duties to support the Legion, including her work in areas such as the poster contest and the poppy drive.

            Also receiving Legion awards for the past year were Val Morozoff, treasurer, and Deb Gabora, house chairman.
