The Canora/ Sturgis RCMP responded to 38 calls for service during the reporting period, some of which included: six traffic offences, three mischiefs, two traffic collisions, one impaired driving offence, one assault, one fraud, one theft, and one criminal harassment complaint.

On April 3 the Canora/ Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a male and female walking on the side of Highway No. 9 between Canora and Yorkton and almost being struck by passing vehicles. The Canora RCMP responded to the stranded pedestrians and gave them a courtesy ride into Yorkton as they requested.

On April 4 the Canora/ Sturgis RCMP responded to a three-vehicle collision that occurred on Fifth Avenue East in Canora. Fortunately, there were no injuries during the collision and one driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield.

On April 4 the Canora/ Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a male causing a disturbance and refusing to leave a residence in Canora. RCMP attended and located an intoxicated male who was arrested and lodged in RCMP cells until he was sober.

On April 4 the Canora/ Sturgis RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision with a moose west of Rama on Highway No. 5. The vehicle was badly damaged but fortunately the driver walked away with only minor injuries. The RCMP would like to remind everyone that as the weather warms up more wildlife will be moving. Please watch carefully and slow down.
