The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 58 calls for service during the reporting period, some of which included 15 traffic offenses,13 Provincial Statutes, six mischiefs, four assaults, five thefts, one demonstration/protest, one break and enter, and one uttering threats.
On May 13 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that 14 sheets of plywood along with two batteries for solar panels had been stolen from a yard in Canora. On May 24 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a call of a grad party taking place in Sturgis in a residence back yard. Members attended and music was turned down at the party. RCMP also warned the person present to maintain social distancing and to plan a safe ride home.
On May 25 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint in Canora of youths banging on a residence’s windows and doors numerous times and running away when confronted by the occupants inside the house. All the youths involved were located and taken home to their parents where they were warned about possible charges. The youths and parents were encouraged to reach out and apologize to the occupants of the targeted residence.
On May 26 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of patio furniture being stolen in Canora. Details of the patio furniture are not known at this time and the investigation is currently ongoing. On May 27 the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a call of youths playing on trains and carts that were parked on the railroad tracks in Canora. Members attended but were unable to located the parties responsible. The Canora RCMP would like to remind the public about the dangers of playing on trains and train tracks even when the trains are not in motion.
