The CJES kindergarten class and teacher Darla Zayshley hosted Kindergarten Family Literacy Day on January 30.

The focus was on early literacy activities as kindergarten students and their visiting family members took part in fun activities involving reading, writing, moving and doing as they went through various literacy stations.

“The literacy stations focus on emergent reading and writing skills such as letter and sound recognition, finding and matching uppercase and lowercase letters, reading together with family members, putting alphabet puzzles together and making Valentine's Day Cards for family members,” said Zayshley

Zayshley also encouraged families to regularly engage in early literacy activities with their children at home.
