Keen Age Centre seniors held their January and February Birthday Social on February 24 with 35 members in attendance at the Keen Age Centre in Canora.

Musical entertainment was provided by John and Vicky Kowal, her mother Stella Holmes, and Willie and June Jakubowski.

“Stella and Vicky played guitars, Willie and John were on violins, and June played the accordion,” said Edith Kotzer, Keen Age Centre president. “It was a most enjoyable afternoon with music and singing songs that we were familiar with, and could sing along.

“Elsie Carsten and Bernice Rakochy prepared a delicious lunch. Charlie Rudachyk set up tables and chairs. Jean Zarazun, our social convenor, was responsible for choosing the entertainment and aptly thanked them for their presentation.”

Seven persons were present for the birthday celebration, said Kotzer. January birthday celebrants were: John Kowal of the entertainment group, Mellvina Dergousoff, Lucille Dergousoff, and Grace Chase, who was celebrating her 101st birthday. Celebrating February birthdays were: George Johnson, Irene Homeniuk and Nettie Gulka.

“January celebrants were honoured to have Grace present to celebrate her 101 years,” said Kotzer. “Happy Birthday was sung when she arrived at the Centre and again to the other celebrants, and their photograph was taken.”

Lorraine Katelnikoff said grace and then “all enjoyed the delightful lunch.”

Kotzer was the photographer and the greeter at the door. She thanked all those who came to celebrate the birthdays and those who stayed to help with the cleanup.
