Terry Dennis, Canora-Pelly MLA, has announced that the government of Saskatchewan will be funding a paving project in Canora under the Town Urban Highway Connector Program.

Dennis confirmed that the provincial contribution will be $820,000.

“This should be just about enough to cover the complete cost of the project for the rehabilitation of Highway No. 5 from the Highway No. 9 junction to Kal Tire at the north end of Canora,” said Dennis.

Dennis said he signed the agreement for the Town Urban Highway Connector Program several years ago when he was still Mayor of Canora, and it was nice to see this well-needed funding coming to Canora.

“It’s a good project and it will be a benefit to the people of Canora, as well as everyone driving into and out of Canora along that stretch of highway.”

The town of Canora will be responsible for doing the work on the project with the funding provided by the province. Dennis said it’s good to see Canora benefiting from its strong relationship with the province.

“Any time we at the provincial level can help out towns and municipalities, it’s good for everyone,” he concluded.
