Town council amends zoning bylaw and accepts demolition bid

Council amended the zoning bylaw to include the following under Part II Definitions: “Screen – a visual barrier consisting of a fence of substantial and uniform construction at a minimum height of six feet or greater that completely obstructs public view of storage or processing areas.”

Council amended Part III Section 5(b) of the zoning bylaw to read: “Fences less than two metres (6.5 ft.) in height except when required as a visible barrier or screen under Part IV Section 12 or Part V Sections 8(4), 9(4), 10(4) and 11(4) of this bylaw.”

Council amended the zoning bylaw to include the following under Part II Definitions: “Screened – when a property is required to ensure articles are screened from visibility, an acceptable barrier shall consist of privacy slats in chain link or with mesh screening; metals which include tin or corrugated, or wood fencing material.”

Council authorized the chief administrative officer to give the required public notice and prepare drafts to make these amendments to the zoning bylaw.

A bylaw to amend the zoning bylaw was introduced and read a first time.

Council accepted the Ludba Construction tendered bid of $11,250 plus taxes for the demolition of the building at 302 Norway Road.

Council approved the subdivision of SW 32-30-3 W2 as proposed by Wade and Gloria Hemm in their August 7 application to Community Planning, Ministry of Government Relations. 

Council accepted the offer from Wally Huebert and Mary Huebert to voluntarily transfer the title for the property at a vacant lot on Koziar Street to the Town of Canora, provided property taxes are in a current position.

Council stayed the order to remedy issued to 129 Third Avenue West, requiring the cleanup of overgrown vegetation; various refuse including, but not limited to loose and scrap lumber and building materials, concrete, piles of branches and discarded furniture, provided satisfactory cleanup is made by September 21.

Council authorized the replacement of the pitless adapter pump and pipe of well No. 8 by TSL Mechanical Inc. at the estimated cost of $51,000 plus taxes.
