Town council approves funding application for numerous projects

Application for funding of a variety of local projects and the approval of an action plan for the Canora Landfill Site were among the items of concern to town council at its special meeting on July 9 and its regular meeting on July 21.

Application for funding of a variety of local projects and the approval of an action plan for the Canora Landfill Site were among the items of concern to town council at its special meeting on July 9 and its regular meeting on July 21.

At the special meeting on July 9, council approved the application to Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP) for the following projects and council agreed with the terms and conditions of this program, will manage the construction and purchase of the projects, fund the municipal share of costs, fund any ongoing operation and maintenance and follow any mitigation measures as required by applicable federal or provincial legislation: Civic Centre and curling rink compressors, $40,000; cold storage building, $60,000; replace boiler, $60,000; concrete road swales, $30,000; south sign corridor, $25,000; sewer lift pumps, $35,000; sewer lift backup generator, $30,000; Station House clock, $12,500, and ball diamond upgrades, $10,406.

At the July 21 regular meeting, council approved the July 13 Corrective Action Plan for the
