The approval of the route for the Canora Composite School Graduation Parade and the decision to suspend operations of the Canora swimming pool for the 2020 season were among the items of concern for town council at its regular meeting on June 16.
Council approved the Canora Composite School 2020 graduation parade route as presented, with entrants gathering on Centre Avenue East, travelling west to Main Street, north on Main Street to Railway Avenue, east on Railway Avenue to Third Street, south on Third Street to Second Avenue East, west on Second Avenue East to Main Street and south on Main Street to King George Park.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, council suspended operations of the Canora swimming pool for the entire 2020 season. Councillor Pelechaty requested a recorded vote.
Council accepted the offer of Max and Jae Zbitniff to purchase a vacant lot on Second Avenue West (Lot 15, Block 3, Plan G2107) for $1,000.00 plus GST, provided the current year’s taxes are prepaid and payment is received within 30 days.
Council suspended its regular meeting and opened a public hearing regarding an amendment to the zoning bylaw that will add “processing plants” as a permitted use in a C-3 Highway Commercial District. No written or personal representations were received. Council closed the public hearing regarding the amendment to the zoning bylaw and resumed the regular council meeting.
A bylaw to amend the zoning bylaw was read a second and third time, and adopted.
