Town Council discusses Winter Lights Festival parade route

Edith Kotzer, George Stinka, Leo Rakochy, Alfredo Converso, Peter Wiebe, Bernice Rakochy and Elsie Carsten met with council to discuss and present a petition requesting the re-opening of the back lane from Fourth Street to the Gateway Co-op location.

Council approved the Winter Lights Festival proposed parade route as presented, with entrants gathering on Centre Avenue East, travelling west to Main Street, north on Main Street to Eighth Avenue, east on Eighth Avenue East to Third Street, north on Third Street to Railway Avenue, west on Railway Avenue to Main Street and south on Main Street to King George Park.

Council authorized the use of a location along Pacific Street (Block 74, Plan Z5383), the same location as last year, for a fireworks display on November 30 in conjunction with the Winter Lights Festival.

Council stayed the order to remedy issued to Doug and Sandra Tregarthen at 201 First Avenue West requiring the removal of an accessory building; provided a building permit application for the building is submitted by October 31 and obtained no later than November 16.

Council contributed $225 to Canora Minor Hockey towards the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League game to be held in November.

Council tabled the request of Canora Golf and Country Club for reimbursement of $393 in water pump rental costs incurred in May.
