The Canora Ladies Bonspiel was held at the Sylvia Fedoruk Centre from March 13 to 15 with curlers from as far away as Snow Lake, Manitoba.

A total of 10 teams participated, an increase over the previous year. In addition to Canora, teams took part from: Preeceville, Norquay, Moose Jaw and Snow Lake, Manitoba.

Each team played three games in the first round under the Brandon Draw scoring system: four points per win, two points for a tie, one point for each end won and zero points for blank ends. After the three games, the eight teams with the top point totals qualified for the event finals, with first place playing second in the A event, third facing fourth in the B event, and so on.

The Sharon Naclia foursome of Norquay defeated the Brigitte Herriges rink of Canora to take the top spot in the A event. Members of the wining rink were: Naclia (skip), Linda Kreklewetz (third), Lynnette Seversen (second) and Iris Nokinsky (lead).

In the B event final, the Wiwcharuk foursome of Snow Lake, Man overcame the Cheryl Rostotski rink of Canora. The Wiwcharuk team was largely a family affair, with Pam Wiwcharuk throwing lead rocks, her daughter Kelly Wiwcharuk at third and Kelly’s daughter Jenna Wiwcharuk at skip. Rounding out the lineup was Jodi Brasch at second.

Ally Rock and her Canora teammates won the C event with a victory over the Eleanor Murray rink, also of Canora. Rock skipped the winning rink and was joined by teammates Kylee Toffan (third), Jodie Kowalyshyn (second) and Jessica Kwas (lead).

The Preeceville/Canora rink skipped by Minnie Zimmer of Preeceville took the D event crown over the Patty Kolodziejski foursome of Canora. The Zimmer foursome included: Mary Pasiechnik of Preeceville (third), Leona Wolkowski of Canora (second) and Agnes Dubelt of Preeceville (lead).

Other rinks in the bonspiel were entered by Robin Heshka of Moose Jaw and Sharon Draper of Preeceville.
