The Canora Ladies’ Golf Club held its annual golf tournament on August 12, said club representative Maxine Stinka.

Twenty-one women attended and enjoyed a beautiful sunny day with no wind as they golfed 18 holes of stroke play. Golfers were from Canora, Good Spirit Lake, Regina, Saskatoon, Warman and Yorkton.

This year, for the first time, the championship flight required a playoff, said Stinka. Barb Coleridge and Lisa Mcfadyen tied for first place, which necessitated the playoff. Mcfadyen won the championship on the first hole. Coralee Schoenrock finished third while Linda Mcfadyen won the “hard luck” prize for the championship flight.

Sherri Sparvier placed first in the second flight, while Sonja Sheasby came in second. Carrie Lynn Weigel was third and Dot Bordass was awarded the “hard luck” prize.

First place in the third flight went to Doreen Gogal, followed by Syndee Kopec in second place and Eleanor Murray in third, said Stinka. The “hard luck” prize went to Gail Ostafie.

Following the competition there was a supper prepared by Donna, Ally and Darryl Rock, and prizes were awarded.

The golfers recognized the hole sponsors as well as businesses and individuals for their contributions to the success of the tournament, both financially and by supplying prizes, said Stinka.

Sponsors were: Canora Golf & Country Club, Community Insurance, Crossroads Credit Union, Gateway Co-op, Haas Nissan, Key Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC, Leson’s Funeral Home, Nehaj Building Centre, and Rice Construction. Proceeds from the last several years have purchased tables and chairs for the deck at the golf course.

Prize donors were Arbonne, Canadian Western Bank, Carnation Street Floral, CIBC Canora, Home Hardware Yorkton, LASH-Eyelash Extensions by Deena, Leson’s Funeral Home, Linda Mcfadyen, M & M Meat Shops, Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Matt & Marge Montain, Nails on First, The Blend Salon, The Flower Mill & Home Decor, The Painted Hand Casino, Scientific Beauty Salon and Young’s Plant World.

The next golf tournament in Canora is the Seniors’ (50-plus) two-person (men, women or mixed) scramble coming up on August 28.
