The CCS team members were: Brandon Zuravloff (skip), Ally Sleeva (third), Lane Zuravloff (skip) and Grace Medvid (lead), with Cindy Smith and Sharon Ripa serving as coaches.

The foursome qualified for provincials with an undefeated run through districts in Esterhazy, followed by a strong showing at regionals in Yorkton.

Competing against the seven other top rinks in Saskatchewan at provincials, the CCS foursome began the bonspiel with a loss against St. Joseph’s School (Saskatoon), said Smith.

“This was followed by opening ceremonies,” she recalled. “The curlers were piped in by a bagpipe player in full regalia. Speeches were given by local dignitaries and SHSAA officials.”

After the opening ceremonies, the CCS crew went back on the ice and defeated Foam Lake. That was followed by a meeting with Rosetown which resulted in a loss, the final game of provincials for the Canora side.

“We did not advance to the medal round on Saturday but the team represented our school and community very well with excellent sportsmanship,” Smith said with pride. “We would like to thank the Canora Curling Club for the support this year in providing ice time for us.”
